The Tredegar
Park Golf Club has been in existence
at Tredegar Park, for 14 years. Prior to this the
club was known as the Ladyhill Golf club and played for many years at
Ladyhill, Chepstow Road. The land being required for building purposes, it
became necessary to find another site. The Right Honourable Viscount
Tredegar, who was approached on the matter very kindly consented to a portion
of the Deer Park being converted into a Golf Course, and also accepted the
Presidency of the Club. The Tredegar Park Golf Club Ltd, was formed and a
splendid course was laid out, the springy nature of the turf and the
excellent greens bringing the Club into the forefront of golf in South Wales
and Monmouthshire.
Two years ago, a large tract of land on the lower part of the course was
secured which enabled the Club to give up a portion of the Upland part of the
Park and to-day there are fifteen holes on the flat and three holes on the
rising ground of the old course.
The course has been considerably lengthened, being over 6,000yards in length
and under the guidance of Mr Jas. Braid has been laid out on the most modern
lines,. The fairways are in beautiful condition and the greens are improving
in every way. The course provides a wonderful test of golf.

The membership of the Club has increased
phenomenally during the last 18 months, over 150 new members have been
enrolled, fully justifying the decision of the committee to make the change
over the lower part of the Park.
The course is easily accessible being only three minutes from Bassaleg
Station and buses from the town pass the door regularly.
The ClubHouse, which was burned down in 1929, was rebuilt and provides all
the amenities for the fastidious golfer.
The subscription for Men is £4.4.0 and for Ladies £3.3.0
